Current release is XOasis 6.3.1

OASIS data reduction software

OASIS/TIGER data are reduced using the XOasis software developped in Lyon by the TIGER team. This package is distributed free of charge to all astronomical institutions, or individual scientists in the astronomical community, who request it filling the download form. It must not be used, in part or as a whole, in any commercial package.

It is made available for Linux, and possibly for MacOs X and SUN-OS operating systems ("O.S.") depending on the availability of such platforms in our neighboorhood to create tarballs. Current available versions are :

Linux
OS type XOasis versionOS versionLast updateComments
Linux6.4 (beta) Kernel version 2.6.4July, 17th 2006beta version for those using the LR610 configuration (prism)
6.3.1 Kernel version 2.6.8February, 1st 2006provides better handling of OAFCLASS than 6.3
6.3 Kernel version 2.4.21December, 12th 2005
Darwin6.3 Darwin 7.8.0 (MacOs X)March, 4th 2005

Although we did our best, and use it routinely for our own research, it is distributed AS IS, with no warranty of any kind. We are particularly aware of the fact that as we, in Lyon, work essentially under the Linux environment, the others flavor are somewhat more risky; but the hazards, if any, should be on the user interface behavior, not on the reduction algorithms.

Download

The package can be FTP-ed using the Download button on the upper left of this Web page or using the following link. It comes as an Oasis-x.x-{your OS}.tar.gz file, to be gunzipped and un-tarred in the directory of your choice (see below). A directory structure will be created inside this root directory. An INSTALL file will be created into the same root directory reporting the following instructions:

OASIS/TIGER manual

A comprehensive HTML OASIS/TIGER manual is distributed free of charge too, with the same restrictions. It is included in the XOasis tarball. The manual is a local copy of the official OASIS web site, including the instrument description (link to WHT and mirrors), the observing run preparation (link to WHT and mirrors), the observation manual (link to WHT and mirrors), the reduction manual, the download pages, the hot line accesses.

Note that the Instrument presentation, Observing run preparation and Observation manual chapters, though originally written in Lyon, may some day be maintained by WHT. As such, they are distributed as simple links to the official OASIS WEB site.
The in-line reduction help is part of the web manual, but a limited help is provided from within XOasis.
